Christina Milian Opens Up About Her Experience With Post-Partum Hair Loss

For 39-year-old singer Christina Milian, dealing with post-partum hair loss was a tough battle. Three to six months after her first two pregnancies, she started noticing chunks of hair falling out in the shower, which she says took a major toll on her mental health. While Milian hasn’t yet dealt with it after welcoming her third child, she now has a few tricks up her sleeve to help combat it.

“It’s so overwhelming, on top of having a newborn at home, which is stressful, and all of the hormones that come with post-partum, dealing with the emotional impact of thinning hair,” she said during a panel with Nioxin, a hair-care brand which she recently partnered with. “It really takes a toll on your confidence.”

When talking about how this condition affected her self esteem, Milian says, “It absolutely affected my self-esteem and confidence. I really feel for men who experience balding now because I can understand the toll it takes on your emotions. It’s also scary to see chunks of hair falling out in the shower—it made me want to avoid looking down the drain.”

Outside of using the Nioxin products daily, the singer has also been following a healthy diet, getting daily exercise and drinking a lot of water. “Diet and exercise definitely play a big part in helping me feel my best. My husband is also incredibly supportive and always makes me feel beautiful.”
