Megan Thee Stallion and Fashion Nova Donate $100,000 to the Breonna Taylor Foundation

On the one-year anniversary of the police killing of Breonna Taylor, Grammy Award winner Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, better known as Megan Thee Stallion, partnered with apparel retail company Fashion Nova to donate $100,000 to the Breonna Taylor Foundation.

Megan made the announcement on her Instagram account.

A year ago today Breonna Taylor was tragically taken from her family and friends. Breonna’s name continue’s to be a catalyst for change and a powerful reminder that justice has still not been served. Fashion Nova and I are proud to give $100,000 to the @breonnataylorfoundation created by @tamikalpalmer to honor the memory of her daughter. The core mission of the foundation is to support economic, social, and racial justice through police reform and government accountability. The foundation also seeks to help young people to realize their full potential, empowering them to participate in political processes and achieve better health, with mentorship programs for high-school girls, after-school initiatives, and educational support.  #BreonnaTaylorFoundation #JusticeForBre #SayHerName #BlackLivesMatter #BlackWomenMatter“

Megan is no stranger to giving back and helping to empower those who need a voice. Last week, in honor of Women’s History Month, the rapper and Fashion Nova, a leading e-commerce fashion lifestyle brand, and cultural icon, announced “Women on Top,” a philanthropic initiative focused on women empowerment through the donation of funds to help support female-owned businesses, education, charities, and organizations. It was just announced that throughout the month of March, Fashion Nova Cares will highlight the various women, entrepreneurs, and organizations who were pre-selected to receive $25,000 or more, for a total of $1,000,000.

BLACK ENTERPRISE previously reported that Lousiville police officers who had a no-knock warrant killed Taylor on March 13, 2020, after entering her Louisville apartment and exchanging gunfire with her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. Walker said he believed he was firing at intruders breaking into the apartment — not police officers. Police were looking for drugs in the apartment during the raid, but none were recovered.
