Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. is doing its part to help Black women be a part of the military. The Divine Nine sorority announced that it is partnering with the U.S. Army to help mentor and diversify talent amongst its rankings.

The sorority will be working alongside other fraternities and sororities as a part of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) with the purpose of creating new strategies to help mentor talent and create new scholarships for historically Black colleges and universities.

“This partnership affords Sigma Gamma Rho a chance to expose our members and affiliates to the many opportunities that the U.S. Army provides,” states International Grand Basileus Rasheeda S. Liberty in a press statement sent to BLACK ENTERPRISE. “In our most recent years, we have focused efforts on expanding member benefits to those who have proudly served or are currently serving our country. Through this alignment, we can have even greater impact and we look forward to including the U.S. Army in our programmatic thrusts and events through our Centennial.”

The organization also shared the news on its Instagram page. “The partnership aims to help further the Army’s objective of developing, mentoring, and diversifying the best and brightest talent in America,” they wrote in the caption. “This partnership affords Sigma Gamma Rho a chance to expose our members and affiliates to the many opportunities that the U.S. Army provides.”
