The Kering-owned label was called out on social media this for hosting a private event at the city’s Berghain nightclub on Friday, April 9, but took more heat for an afterparty at Soho House that happened later in the evening.
Currently, Berlin is under a strict lockdown, including a 9pm curfew, in an effort to combat another wave of coronavirus cases.
The event, where guests including Virgil Abloh, Honey Dijon and Stefano Pilati viewed creative director Daniel Lee’s “Salon 02″ collection, appeared to take place before 9pm. But an unofficial afterparty, which ran later, was documented by some attendees on Instagram.
Critics argued that the brand was acting irresponsibly as cases in the city continue to rise. Currently, those in the Berlin must show shop owners a negative test before even entering a store, according to a France24 report.
A spokesperson for Bottega Veneta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
