Fast-Food Supply Chain Responses : large fries

McDonald’s has announced that it will once again be selling medium and large fries in Japan following its previous supply chain responses. Throughout the latter half of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, McDonald’s halted the sale of any fry size above small. This is a result of the global supply issue that has been affecting potato availability.

The potato supply issue lead to McDonald’s limiting its fry sales at 2,900 locations globally. However, the fast-food chain has found a solution to its supply issue that involves a new transportation route from eastern North America to Japan. This supply route was previously very difficult to optimize because Japan is located nearest the western side of North America. Now, consumers in Japan and other affected areas can return to enjoying an order of large fries with their meals.
