Ashley Graham Compared Her Postpartum Hair Growth to a Bond Villain’s Style — See Photo

Ashley Graham has been a mom for a little over a year now, and in that time, she has applied her already-candid personality to all things postpartum — breastfeeding, stretch marks, and much more. One post-pregnancy journey we’ve been following eagerly is Graham’s progress in growing back some of the hair she lost after giving birth, and she just gave a hilariously hopeful update about it on Instagram.

On Tuesday, March 2, Graham posted a selfie that, at first glance, may have you thinking she got Amélie-esque baby bangs. But the short fringe we’re seeing along her hairline is actually regrowth — though Graham clearly has a sense of humor about how it looks.

“I may not be a Bond girl but I can be a Bond villain (postpartum baby hairs come through!!!),” the supermodel wrote in the caption. In the second slide, she shared a picture of actor Anatole Taubman, who played an antagonist named Elvis in Quantum of Solace — and did so with quite the Caesar bowl cut. In a third slide, Graham shared a side-by-side closeup to emphasize the similarities between the two hairlines.

Friends and fans loved the post, commenting with their experiences and support. “Lmaoooooooo U at least make it look good! I looked like a pre-pubescent choir child,” dermatologist Shereene Idriss wrote. Hairstylist David Lopez chimed in with, “This lives rent free in my mind AG! 😂,” and fellow model Emily Ratajkowski, who’s currently pregnant herself, commented, “I mean damn you pull it off 😍.”

Last summer, Graham shared in a non-sponsored testimonial saying she felt Kérastase Initialiste Advanced Scalp & Hair Serum was really helping her hairline along, and it seems using it may have supported even more progress in the last few months.

As jarring as postpartum hair loss can be to the person experiencing it, it is very common and normal. “When a woman is pregnant, she has a lot of extra hormones in the body, including estrogen,” a board-certified OBGYN Christine Carlan Greves previously told Allure. “The estrogen helps protect us from losing our hair. Then when she has the baby, there’s a sudden change in the hormone levels, including a drop in the estrogen. And this shift can cause a response in the body that may affect the hair cycle.”

Luckily, the hair loss is usually temporary, and as you can see from Ashley Graham, the regrowth period has its comedic perks.
