Experts Say We’ll See These Hair Color Trends Everywhere in 2022

Your natural color, but better

Experts say 2022 will be a great time to focus on embracing your natural color but enhancing it a bit. Celebrity colorist Tania Whittier says 2022 will be all about working with your natural color, “whether that be creating a soft dimension with your gray or adding some gold and highlights to your natural ashy hair color.”

Redken celebrity colorist Tracey Cunningham doesn’t follow trends, so in her book, it’s always best to be as close as possible to your natural hair color with “subtle highlights, not chunky stripes throughout” and “lots of depth, with a combination of highlights and lowlights.”

Whittier believes natural color will be popular this year because “the past two years we’ve had to embrace what we have naturally and now that everyone has gotten used to their natural hair color they just want to enhance it.”
