Megan Fox Opens Up About Her Life-Long Struggle With Body Image

We all know Megan Fox from her successful acting career, wholesome parenting techniques and, most recently her relationship with musical artist Machine Gun Kelly. But despite all the other facets of Fox’s life, she has inevitably been made into a sex symbol since the beginning of her time in the spotlight. Though fans have fawned over and hyper-sexualized the actress’ body for years, Fox just revealed that her relationship to her body has never been positive.

“I have body dysmorphia,” Fox candidly admitted during her cover story with Sports Illustrated, “I don’t ever see myself the way other people see me.” The now 37-year-old went on to explain that her feeling of dissatisfaction and discomfort with her body is nothing new. “There’s never a point in my life where I loved my body—never ever,” she says. “When I was little, that was an obsession I had of, like, that I ‘should’ look this way.”

Fox continued on to explain that she can’t quite place where her dysmorphic view of her body came from, given that her upbringing was not one that ever even recognized bodies. “Why I had an awareness of my body that young, I’m not sure, and it definitely wasn’t environmental because I grew up in a very religious environment where bodies weren’t even acknowledged.”

It may be shocking for some of us to know that someone as famously beautiful as Megan Fox has struggled with her body image, but she, like most of us, acknowledges that fostering a positive self-image is a process she will be undergoing for the rest of her life. “The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending.”
