Survey on Inflation Shows This Is the Beauty Item Americans Value Most

Whether it’s rising gas prices or the infamous egg crisis, the effects of inflation are all around us. Curious to gauge how this economic turmoil is effecting American’s personal spending habits, a recent survey by StyleEdit found that consumers are in fact trying to cut down on spending on several of their beauty routine staples. Despite the desire to be more frugal, the survey also found that this popular beauty practice is the number-one thing participants are unwilling to spend less on.

Even though 48 percent of survey participants said they are planning to spend less on beauty products in 2023 and 64 percent confirmed that inflation has impacted their spending on beauty and fashion, the number-one item consumers won’t be cutting back on is their lashes. Lash extensions, tints, lifts and more have become commonplace in recent years, and StyleEdit’s findings confirm that the commitment to a fierce lash is not going anywhere anytime soon.

The survey also made it abundantly clear that aesthetic and cosmetic procedures are high priority for Americans, as the second through fifth items participants said they were least likely to cut spending on are fillers, hair removal, tanning and Botox, respectively. On the flip side, the items most likely to be cut down on are makeup, nail salon services, hair salon services, hair care and skin care.
