There’s a Self-Tanning Expert on the Set of ‘Barbie’ and These Are the Exact Products Ryan Gosling Is Using

Social media is buzzing about the early behind-the-scenes shots from the much-anticipated Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, and, besides a whole lot of neon and platinum-blonde hair, there’s a rather specific sunless-tanning system used on set.

As shared on sunless-tanning expert Kimberly Nkosi’s Instagram (she’s the woman responsible for Gosling’s golden glow), her go-to products include prepping the skin with Isle of Paradise Prep It Self-Tan Priming Spray ($24), followed by Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Water ($32) in shades Medium and Dark to balance the undertones for the iconic Mattel-doll look.

Nkosi also listed super hydrators Glossier Mango Butter and Dr.Hauschka Lemongrass Vitalising Body Oil for being behind the “Barbie glow.”

“For me, applying sunless tanner isn’t about spraying something on and hoping for the best,” she shared. “It’s about a feeling more than a look. Plus, when you work on set there’s so many things to take into consideration the camera picks up every little detail and can completely change the appearance of the tan, especially under lights. Being mindful of this and being consistent is key to achieving a flawless tan each and every time.”
