This Potent Glutathione Supplement Is the Secret for Bright, Healthy Skin

Though it’s not talked about as often as other antioxidants like vitamin C, glutathione (also referred to as GSH) is called “the master antioxidant” for a reason. When taken as a supplement as part of a daily regimen, it can have numerous health benefits, including everything from liver support to brighter skin. LivOn Labs created what I consider one of the most effective and unique glutathione supplements on the market—Lypo-Spheric Glutathione—and here’s why. (You can actually try it yourself if you’re one of the lucky ones to snag this week’s BeautyPass Free Gift Friday. Click here to sign up for BeautyPass if you haven’t already).

The Benefits:

Our bodies produce glutathione naturally—it’s a tripeptide composed of glycine, cysteine and glutamic acid—but its levels can be negatively impacted by stress, a poor diet, pollution, and aging. That’s where glutathione supplements come in: If the body has better glutathione absorption, its cells can be better protected from free-radical damage and the health of the liver and immune system can be optimized. LivOn created this supplement with Setria, which is a specific type of glutathione that is scientifically shown to raise the body’s blood GSH levels by 30 percent and double T-cell activity (T-cells help protect from infection and fight cancer).

And, when you combine Setria with LivOn’s liposomal encapsulation process, you get a very potent supplement that will be properly absorbed so it can do what it says it will, and without destroying your gut (like some supplements do). Studies also show that Setria glutathione does not adversely affect the body’s normal production of glutathione. It’s also sugar-free, vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, and dairy-free.

Some studies show a skin-lightening benefit as well, due to direct and indirect inhibition of the tyrosinase enzyme and switching from eumelanin to phaeomelanin production. In 2017, we reported that in certain Asian countries, women were getting glutathione injections (and probably still are) to alter their skin to a lighter, more desirable tone (though it’s advised against because of limited safety data).

Key Ingredients:

L-glutathione (Setria) and phospholipids derived from soy

What It’s Free From:

Sugar, gluten, dairy, hexane, GMOs, fillers, colorants, and artificial flavors

How to Use It:

LivOn recommends taking one packet one or two times per day, or as directed by your doctor. Tear the packet open and squeeze the jelly-like substance into 1 to 3 ounces of cold liquid—I use cold water in a shot glass. Swallow in one gulp like a shot, and be aware that it’s a big gulp, so consider your liquid and ounces accordingly. Do not expect the jelly to dissolve in your liquid because it won’t!

Each serving (one packet) offers 450 milligrams of glutathione, and most of the positive research surrounding benefits like better skin and a stronger immune system is based on taking 1,000 milligrams daily. Therefore, two may be better than one in this case, but do what’s best for you.

What It Tastes Like:

When you open the packet, the strong sulphuric scent is a bit overwhelming, but the supplement is meant to be taken very fast—think of it like a shot of liquor or an oyster—so it essentially dissipates quickly.

The Bottom Line:

This unique, efficacious supplement delivers a potent dose of glutathione, which is regarded as “the master antioxidant,” into the body for a wide range of benefits. It may take some getting used to because it’s not as easy as swallowing a pill, but the results are worth it.
