Unum Insurance Appoints Chief Inclusion And Diversity Officer

Unum Insurance, a financial benefits provider, has appointed Ericka DeBruce as the company’s Chief Inclusion and Diversity Officer.

DeBruce brings years of diversity and inclusion experience to Unum. DeBruce has been a diversity and inclusion manager at both BAE Systems and International Paper. The Bradley University graduate will be tasked with driving strategic diversity and inclusion programs at Unum.

DeBruce will also work to ensure Unum’s culture and business approach powers all of Unum’s employees as well as its clients. DeBruce will work under Executive Vice President of People and Communications Liz Ahmed.

Before Unum, DeBruce served as the vice president of Colleague Experience & Global Citizenship at Sedgwick. In the role, she was responsible for diversity and inclusion as well as corporate social responsibility and employee engagement. She also previously served as the director of Diversity and Community Outreach for the American Red Cross in Philadelphia.

Unum President and CEO Rick McKenney said DeBruce will not only bring a wealth of experience to the positions, but she will bring an attitude that is second to none.

“Ericka brings tremendous experience in cultivating positive and inclusive employee engagement through multiple organizations,” McKenney said in a statement. “I am confident she will help us further our ongoing efforts to embed inclusion and diversity into everything we do to support our customers and employees.”
