The winning label in the 2022 edition of the DHL Talent Mode International Prize was revealed on Saturday January 21 at the Who’s Next trade show in Paris. Mapoésie, the label founded by French designer Elsa Poux 13 years ago, was picked among the six finalists. The competition was organised by DHL Express France in collaboration with the French Women’s Ready-to-wear Federation (FFPAPF). The winner will be assisted in growing its international business by means of ad hoc mentoring and a €10,000 endowment of DHL Express shipping coupons.

Mapoésie – Mapoésie (Ricardo Ramos)

Poux, a graduate of the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris, started out in July 2010 by designing unisex scarves and stoles patterned with creative prints, and has gradually diversified her range. First by expanding her label’s catalogue with stationery and home decoration items, then by introducing women’s ready-to-wear and leather goods, from 2018. Poux’s creations always feature colourful, abstract geometric patterns, all of them a nod to the work of 1920s Franco-Ukrainian painter Sonia Delaunay.

This year, the Parisian label is embarking on an array of projects and new product launches. Mapoésie will expand its knitwear collection by introducing jacquard trousers, will drop a new line of outdoor rugs, available from February, and will also present a household linen license at the Maison & Objet show in Paris.

These two novelties will strengthen the label’s lifestyle range, as Mapoésie is keen to further showcase its avant-garde decorative objects line. Mapoésie’s Parisian store, opened six years ago at 69 rue du Chemin-Vert, will undergo a face-lift before the summer to accommodate a line of large rugs. By relocating its offices, Mapoésie will in fact gain an additional retail area of 60 square metres. In parallel, on Tuesday January 10, the label inaugurated a new showroom in Paris at 25 rue de la Fontaine-au-Roi, one km from its main address.

Mapoésie is commercialised by 160 retailers in France, among them La Maison Générale in Saint-Malo, and also sells its ready-to-wear and accessories at museum shops, like the Louisiana museum in Denmark. Next summer, Mapoésie’s colourful scarf collection will be available at MoMA, New York’s renowned contemporary art museum.

Mapoésie decided to take part in the DHL Talent Mode International Prize in order to boost its international expansion, in Europe and beyond. The label has strong export potential thanks to its e-tail site, delivering worldwide, and its active commercial presence in the wholesale channel. Mapoésie attracts clients and international retailers at the many trade shows in which it participates, such as Mode in France in Seoul, and Cabana Beach in Miami.
