Considered a staple back in the 90s, the slinky silhouettes are back in fashion. Even the currently popular early aughts obsession keeps the trend going courtesy of Y2K-era prints. (Think butterflies.) Necklines vary from square to cowl. Plus, straps have come a long way. We’re talking chain accents, asymmetrical versions and tied takes.
Sporting one IRL takes some finesse. Don’t go too clingy (size up if you have to) because you don’t want to reveal too much. The key over the summer is to not over style the look. Try working in a set of neutral sandals or basic black combat boots — just go easy on the jewelry. Once fall rolls around, you can layer a fine-knit turtleneck or long-sleeve crew neck underneath for extra insulation. Making them more than one-season wonders. Warning: These are not the kind of slips you position under sheer dresses to retain some level of modesty. They’re much too fancy.
