It’s easy to assume that if a shoe is flat, it will be comfortable. But that’s far from always, or even most often, the case.
Even brands that are known for having comfortable shoes don’t always live up to their hype with every style (more on that in our below slideshow).
Whether you’re looking for a work to bar shoe, a weekend shoe, something classic or something bold, we’ve rounded up brands – and specific styles – that make a number of styles that are as comfortable as they are versatile and stylish.
Rothys
For shoes you can rely on to take you from the office to the bar and anything and everything in between (except for the gym…), checkout Rothys. Not only do they have a wide range of styles, all of which have cult followings for being comfortable, their styles come in ever-growing color and pattern options.
Freedom Moses
Forget Birkenstocks, Freedom Moses is not only a lot more affordable, their styles are more comfortable (with zero breaking in) and there are seemingly endless color and pattern options.
TOMS
TOMS was a game-changer when they launched and their espadrilles are undeniably comfortable (though not particularly durable). While they have a ton of other styles to choose from, they’re hit or miss in terms of comfort with some requiring a few wears for “breaking in.”
Soludos
For weekend kicks you can walk in all day or head to brunch in, checkout Soludos. Like TOMS they’re still best known for their espadrilles, but they have a ton of other stylish styles that are just as comfortable.
Wildling
Wildling is known for their minimal shoes, which “allow foot muscles to develop and become stronger freely and naturally.” The flexible sole and low to the ground design aren’t for everyone, but they’re undeniably comfortable and are perfect for travel (especially for those of us who can never seem to pack light suitcases).
