Paul Bettany reveals he no longer has a Marvel contract after WandaVision

Paul Bettany has been a part of the MCU since providing the voice of Jarvis in 2008’s Iron Man. From there, the actor eventually became Vision in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and he has made various other appearances during his tenure. Bettany last appeared as the character on the Disney+ Marvel series, WandaVision and while there is some room to explore the character further, the actor has revealed that he’s currently not under contract with Marvel Studios.

Bettany’s Vision is technically dead BUT the reveal of White Vision during the series finale of WandaVision certainly hinted at a new future for the character. The door is left open for his return but during a recent interview with “The Playlist”, he said that he hasn’t discussed what’s next for him with any of the Marvel powers that be:

“I don’t have a contract. I don’t know that. I don’t know that at all. And all that I do know is, as far as this sort of traunch of press goes for an Emmy push, which is for a limited series. So it doesn’t look like that happening again. I mean, I guess it would be difficult to introduce White Vision and not deal with him in some way, but we have not discussed that.”

Vision as we met him in Avengers: Age of Ultron, met his end at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. That appeared to be the last time we would see Vision but he made his unlikely return in WandaVision because Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff essentially managed to bring him back from the dead to live out a warped sitcom fantasy. There was of course more to it than that as Wanda’s immense sadness from losing Vision is what created this alternate reality. She ultimately realizes she has to stop using her magic to keep her idyllic world together and has to let Vision go again. The loose thread is White Vision, who now has The Vision’s memories after he restores them. There is definitely more to explore there and hopefully, this isn’t the last we see of Paul Bettany as the character. The actor has mentioned on many occasions that he would love to keep playing the character now it’s simply all up to Marvel.

Do YOU think Paul Bettany’s Vision will return to the MCU?
